The Week Kamala Lost The Election

This was the week Kamala lost the election. There are three weeks left, and most of the attention will focus squarely on her. The jokes mocking her “opportunity economy,” have begun. The desperation will sink in, and she’ll get louder, meaner, and more vocal. The campaign leaks will unfold sharing the drama within the campaign. The party will begin to poke fingers and jump ship as they try to shore up political capital for 2026 and beyond. In short, the reign of the Obama coalition that began with Pelosi/Reid winning the 06’ midterms and survived all the way through now, has come to an end.

Kamala peaked in the late summer. The likely peak was the convention because she barely gained more support from that moment on. The signal that it wasn’t going to pan out was the first interview she did with Dana Bash on CNN. The campaign had hoped the debate victory would move the needle, but shockingly, it sent her on a downward path. The final nail in the coffin was Vance’s victory over Walz. This led to the media blitz we saw this week. It was a catastrophic failure rivaling Sarah Palin saying she sees Alaska from her backyard.

The polls do not make sense to even remotely try and justify a Kamala victory. The overarching reason is when you compare where she is today versus where Hillary and Joe were in their respective races. She is lightyears behind. The past two elections versus Trump were never this close in the polls. Trump has had a history of surprising to the upside. It’s unfathomable to suggest he wouldn’t do the same this go around.

The next part about the polls is extrapolating the demographic data. Trump has edges with practically every minority when you compare the numbers this time versus Joe and Hillary. He has considerably more support from blacks, especially black men, Hispanics, Catholics, Asians, and even women. Consider Trump’s edge on national and battleground polls, and combine that with the demographic specific polls. Statistically, there isn’t a path forward for Harris.

Another metric showing Harris is in trouble is the numbers coming out from early voting and voter enthusiasm. Early voting is down nearly 50% compared with 2020. That’s massive considering the majority of early voters supported Biden. Enthusiasm amongst democrats is down considerably as well. Another bad sign.

The campaign also saw Obama drop the “you aren’t black if you don’t vote for Harris” threat this week in Pennsylvania. The desperation is obvious, but the location is most telling. Why Pennsylvania? Because Kamala’s internal polling is showing her chances of winning that state are on life support. If she loses PA, there is almost no viable path forward to victory.

Lastly, Senate races in battleground states are quickly tightening in favor of the Republican. This is showing further proof that Harris and the help she brings to down ballot elections is falling away.

There’ll be a lot of time to dissect the “why” relating to this loss in coming years. The easiest way to explain it is her absence from a primary and her lack of time in the public eye during her tenure as VP. She never had to win over independent voters in her career. She never had to convince the other side to vote for her. She never went far in a primary. This matters. She was never battle tested. She wasn’t able to stress test ideas. Her staff wasn’t able to learn and evolve. She lacked considerable political experience. This matters. And in fact, it matters a lot.

In conclusion, a lot of this goes back to July. Trump was nearly killed. That moved the dial. It also goes back to May. Trump was indicted by way of a kangaroo court. That moved the dial. Lastly, it goes back to the past three and a half years. Inflation is a nuisance. The border is a mess. And, the Afghanistan withdrawal was horrific. These three things really pissed off Americans. It was going to be hard for Joe to win, or for that matter, anyone. It was never close. It was always Jimmy Carter versus Ronald Reagan. Now, can Trump set the nation on a path that Reagan did and bring in two decades of economic prosperity? Regardless your political views, it’s time to root for that. We need it.
